Revelstoke Railway Museum
The place to re-live some historically momentous moments of the building of the railroad is the wonderful Revelstoke Railway Museum on Victoria Road. Here you’ll see the beautifully restored CPR locomotive #5468 – one of the largest steam engines ever used by the CPR and an awesome reminder of the great age of steam. Actual working equipment, hundreds of railway artifacts, an outstanding gift and book store, even a diesel locomotive simulator. Of related interest is Craigellachie where the famous “Last Spike” was driven to complete construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway on November 7, 1885. Once a train station and water fueling stop it is now a national historic site that also features a picnic area so the entire family can witness the place where history was made.
